Bush to Stay President Until At Least 2010

In his press conference on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, President Bush declared his intention to remain president after the 2008 election until at least 2010.

In answer to a question about how he portrays Democrats, the President stated, "Nobody has accused me of having a real sophisticated vocabulary, I understand that. And maybe their -- their words are more sophisticated than mine. But when you pull out before the job is done, that's cut and run as far as I'm concerned." (White House Press Conference, October 11, 2006 available at http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/10/20061011-5.html

Earlier that same day, General. Peter J. Schoomaker, the Army's chief of staff, told reporters at the Pentagon that he plans to be able to provide enough troops to maintain the current level in Iraq through 2010. (Washington Post, October 12, 2006 available at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/11/AR2006101100792.html)

Putting together these two pieces of information clearly show that President Bush intends to stay on as President until that job is done. Anything else would be "cut and run."
